Credit Crunch Busting Breaks

As we all know by now, the global recession has hit the UK just as hard as any other part of the world - and it's had a negative impact not only on the Pound in general, but on all of our chequebooks too.

As a result, many of us have been either forced to cut back on our holiday length, cut back on the budget -- particularly when it comes to shopping for Hotels -- and in the worst case, even going without a holiday at all.

Fortunately however, this doesn't have to be the case; and thanks to the discount hotels that can be found throughout Europe, you can still enjoy that backpacking trip or extended holiday that you've been planning - even if you are living on a tight budget

Finding discount hotels in Europe is one thing - finding inexpensive food is another. But a study of European holiday destinations done for the Sunday Independent shows the best bargains to be had are in the former Soviet bloc countries of Eastern Europe enjoy. In one popular Polish milk bar, for example, the study found a three-course meal for approximately £2.88. Riga, in Latvia also offers a cheap dinner at around £6.

For those of you who are not planning a holiday to the so-called "New Europe" there are still bargains available in Spain form cheap hotelas and a bite to eat. In the capital Madrid a decent meal might set you back about £11. Though you can't expect anything too fancy for a price like that, you can bet that it will be good.

However, these are just a couple examples of where you can find cheap food and hotels around Europe - if you do a little bit of online research on hotels on your own you are bound to find even more great spots that are off the beaten path.

No matter where you're looking at spending your holiday, whether it be in the middle of a large European city or away from the hustle and bustle overlooking the countryside, always remember; where cheap food can be found, discount hotels are usually nearby.

And of course all of these savings go a long way when it comes to choosing among the many great Hotels that can be found all throughout Europe. But why stop there - why not choose your room from one of the discount hotels in Europe; remember, just because they are discount hotels when it comes to cost, doesn't necessarily mean that they are subpar in any way. It just means they're able to offer up their amenities for a little bit less than some of the more established hotel chains.
